A colleague today alerted me to the Wellcome Library's programme of Autumn workshops, starting on 26th October. The workshops provide training on research and resources in the Wellcome Library, and are aimed at the general public. The programme includes:
- thematic workshops on Science in the News, Medicine and Literature and the History of Medicine
- training on specific resources such as PubMed Central, and Nineteenth Century Newspapers Online
- and introductions to the Archives & Manuscripts collection, the Wellcome Images database, and genealogical research resources.
Seems like a good example of a library reaching out to its members (and indeed potential members) and helping them to get the most of the collection so I thought worth a mention here.
The City Business Library is another library offering great services and workshops to its community - free of charge. Having just received their October newsletter, I could spend most of the month at the CBL learning about everything from acupuncture to workplace law.
