I'll leave it for now. I'll sort it out soon. I'll get round to it next year, I'm far too young to be thinking about Pensions.
All of the above are well known excuses to postpone the decision to contribute to a pension scheme for future retirement however quite recently the decision has been taken away by the Government. This year saw the introduction of radical pensions reform as the Government attempts to bridge the gap between pension savings and years in retirement, with the introduction of auto-enrolment.
As of 1 October 2012 a new auto enrolment pension scheme has been introduced by the government which makes Companies legally obliged to automatically enrol certain employees (including temporary workers) into a qualifying pension scheme and to make a contribution towards it.
When you will be enrolled depends on the size of the Company you work for and the scheme starts rolling out from 1 October 2012 with the largest Companies first.
It is expected that SHR will be asked to implement an auto enrolment pension scheme for both office staff and temporary workers sometime around May 2014 and we await confirmation from the Pension Regulator.
It is hoped that everyone will embrace the new scheme for a brighter future.
