So how do you continue to motivate an already motivated team? Sue got it right last night... she took us on our "kick start the new year" team outing for a delicious meal at Made In Camden. I had duck & fig terrine followed by pan-fried hake. Yum. The pork belly also comes highly recommended. There's something special about sharing a meal and enjoying a glass or two of wine (in particular what might now be my new favourite white - Picpoul de Pinet!), or local stouts and wheat beers, with your colleagues and this was one of those times.
Fed and watered, we made our way into The Roundhouse for the main attraction - Fuerzabruta. During this exhilarating, spectacular sixty-minute show I felt many different things - I wondered if my heart rate would ever return to normal, I was a teensy bit nervous that my eardrum might have another malfunction and I confess to jumping when the lights went out only to have my senses bamboozled by yet another spectacle when they came back up. But mostly I felt alive. The rhythm being beaten out on the drums, the energy of the performers, the lights pulsing, the music driving the action on and on. The performers in Fuerzabruta know all about the highs your job can bring you... but to describe it further would ruin the surprise for those lucky enough to see it on what looks like a now sold-out residency in north London.
Last night's show was all about teamwork. Thanks to Brett and his staff at Made in Camden, we enjoyed a wonderful meal and our glasses were always topped up. Without the crew, the cast of Fuerzabruta could not be the dazzling daredevils that they are. There's clearly a massive amount of trust involved in a production like this (I'd say more but, well, spoilers!) as there should be in any team environment. So as 2013 unfolds, we will continue to support each other, pull together through the low points and celebrate the high points, as a team. And this was a cracking way to get us in the mood. Thanks Sue!
